ADF HOUSING INVESTMENT PROPERTY:
SUCCESS STORY of Rob and Cassie

This is a success story that informs us that it’s never too late to get started to make sure our retirement is what we deserve… 

Rob and Cassie came to us in June 2022. Living in Sydney, Rob is a 20-year Construction Engineer in the Army, and Cassie works in professional services. In their early-mid 50s, one of their concerns was whether it was too late for them to improve their situation as they start to consider retirement on the GC.

They had $75K in personal debt (cars, etc), which was costing them $2,300pm. Ouch! They felt like they were not getting ahead. Luckily they had an older investment property they bought back in 1999. Whilst it was not going up in value, they had paid down a lot of the debt. To extinguish their consumer debt and free up some cash flow, that property was sold. Instant relief.
Concurrently, Rob and Cassie followed the Axon process and the wheels had started turning for them to acquire a brand new investment property in a location that was rising in value.

* Key handover: Feb 2024 (Zero construction delays!)
* Same land and build value now: ~$720K
* Rental income: $560pw

Fast-forward to now, Cassie has pre-emptively moved to the GC. Rob has a bunch of DVA claims pending, so once that all goes through and he finishes his long and successful ADF career, they will buy their own home. This exciting venture, combined with some smart conversations with a financial planner around how to best use their significant super, Rob and Cassie’s retirement is looking very promising.
