SUCCESS STORY of An army vet and captain

Living in Sydney, John and Sam came to us in Sept 2022. Full transparency, John and I have a mutual friend that used Axon’s services a few years ago – that great man had been encouraging John to get in touch with me for quite a while, before he actually did… haha we got there in the end.

To say we hit it off during the initial coaching is an understatement! We discovered John and I loosely worked together ‘back in the day’ (we have about 100 mutual friends…). John successfully transitioned in 2022 after 24 years of full-time ADF service (same as me) and is now a senior business analyst at Westpac. They already had IP#1 in the market, a 2Br unit, in Brisbane. By their own admission, it had only grown modestly in the 6 years since they bought it. Thankfully, that property has since performed relatively well.

As one would expect, John and Sam provided me with clear guidance during the planning phases. The uniqueness of this story starts here. They planned to build their own home in a growth corridor in Melb, close to family. However, they would not occupy this dwelling until NB mid-2025. Yes, they placed a fair bit of emotional capital into the design of the house (colours, fittings etc.), for someone else to enjoy for a couple of years before they move in. Definitely a first for an Axon client!

Based on these figures, the huge rental increase is a positive macro-indicator of demand in this region. We have already commenced the planning process for John and Sam’s next property. If it’s suitable, we may get a re-evaluation of this property then.

 

Looking ahead, having been successful in the ASWOCS selection, Sam is now a Captain, forging her way with a new cohort of peers. Personally, I loved that part of my SNCO -> CAPT transition – no more yes sir / yes ma’am for WO2s, LTs and CAPTs…
