Building A Family Legacy
“It seemed too good to be true… until it wasn’t.” When Brett and Kerryn first spoke to Axon, they didn’t think home ownership was within reach. Even as a double-income family, the idea of building felt impossible. Fast-forward to now—their build is almost complete. From the moment they joined the Axon process, they were surrounded by support, education, and guidance. Every step was clear, every decision made easier.
After once believing home ownership was beyond their reach, this couple shares how Axon helped them understand what was possible with their finances. As they approach the completion of their new home, they reflect on how simple, supported and stress-free the building process has felt. With guidance from Caitlyn and the wider team, they were able to explore their options and choose a property that genuinely suited their family. More than simply purchasing a home, they now see this as the beginning of a long-term plan for their future. Their journey is helping them create greater security for themselves and something meaningful to eventually pass on to their children.

Speaker 1: Last year, we managed to put some money together. Before coming into the Axon fold, we didn’t really understand what we were capable of doing with our money or what we could potentially achieve in the housing market.
Now, we’re on the verge of entering the market, which is something we never thought would be possible a couple of years ago.
The people at Axon have been incredibly warm, open and welcoming. It feels more like being part of a wide network of friends than simply having a group of people working to help you enter the housing market.
Speaker 2: The process has been so easy.
When I speak to people I know, they’ll ask, “Don’t you have to make this decision?” or, “Don’t you have to organise that?”
I can say, “No, it’s great. I have Caitlyn looking after all of that for me.”
That has made the entire process so much easier and far less stressful.
If an option wasn’t suitable, there was never any pressure. It was simply, “No worries, here’s another option. Let’s talk through it.”
We were able to consider the different choices and select what genuinely suited us.
After nearly 20 years together, I’m fairly used to the acronyms and military language. The Axon team are also great at explaining everything clearly to everyone, which has made it such an easy process.
It is incredibly exciting to know that we are going to be in our own home. That is something we probably never believed was achievable.
Even as a dual-income family, Axon showed us that home ownership was a realistic outcome.
We’re really looking forward to taking this next step and then planning what comes after it.
Speaker 1: Axon hasn’t only helped set us up. They’ve helped us take the first steps towards building something our children may also benefit from.
The goal was always to make our family comfortable, but also to create something we could eventually pass on to our kids.
I know the process might sound too good to be true, but it genuinely isn’t.
It has been such a positive experience to be part of, and we’ve loved every step of the journey.
