Investing in Melbourne in 2025
Is Melbourne the Smartest Investment for Veterans and ADF Members in 2025?
Robbie Turner and the Axon team hit the ground in Melbourne to explore why it’s shaping up as one of the best investment opportunities for Defence members and veterans in 2025.
Melbourne is bouncing back stronger than ever after years of disruption. Once the most liveable city in the world—and later the most locked-down—Melbourne’s property market now sits at the beginning of a powerful recovery phase. In this video, the Axon Property team visits multiple build sites to showcase real client projects and explain why the timing is perfect for long-term investors.
With a growing gap between Sydney and Melbourne prices, smart investors are recognising the opportunity to enter a market still below its historical peak. Massive infrastructure spending, expanding master-planned communities, and a steady return of population growth are all fueling confidence in Melbourne’s next upswing.
For ADF members and veterans, this means access to quality, affordable properties with strong rental demand and high future potential. Axon’s hands-on approach—backed by Defence-aligned experience and trusted builder networks—ensures a smoother build process and a clear path to sustainable wealth creation.

And we’re out the front of your house. See you everyone.
So we’re going to take a walk through some of our newly built terraces. We’ve owned our main builders here in Melbourne. So we’re going to have a look around.
It’s hard to believe that these properties were just set for end stage last week. So there’s a lot of progress happening. Come on through as we show you.
If they put barbecues out in the… If they put barbecues out in the park, that would have been perfect.
Hey, we’re down here in Melbourne right now, visiting one of our brand new properties that we’ve got underway. I mean, you’ve been hearing us talking about Melbourne for quite a while now. Let’s take a bit of a look back in the past.
In the years in the lead up to COVID, Melbourne was the most lived in city, or want to be lived in city in the world, seven years in a row. Then COVID happened, and it become the most locked down city in the world afterwards. Of course, what that meant is that even though Melbourne and Sydney were basically following each other for the last 30 odd years, Sydney continued to rise.
Melbourne actually went down in value. So there’s this massive gap in between Sydney and Melbourne right now. What does that mean to you as a buyer?
What does that mean to you as an investor? There’s a real opportunity to get into the market where it’s virtually at the bottom of the market, the start of the recovery, because there’s so much more growth to go. You look at places like Adelaide, you look at places like Perth, you look at places like Canberra, for instance, they’re at the peak of the market right now.
But you need to be able to buy properties that are in the area where the infrastructure and growth and government spending and types of houses and value for money is all going to be in your favour. And guess what? It’s right here in Melbourne.
We’ve got heaps more to show you. Let’s keep watching. Sun come out right on time.
Beautiful lighting. And look at this amazing park, which is basically right next to this awesome terrace product that we’re now building with one of our elite builders down here. Now the front yard is virtually non-existent, but you don’t need a front yard because you can just walk straight out there onto this amazing park.
And here’s a good thing. Our client right over there is in the build right now, paid $680,000 for this amazing four-bedroom, two-storey terrace home. One on the corner just sold the other day for $765,000.
Has that for capital growth. The build hasn’t even finished. You’re welcome.
So who’s scoffed your guns? So we’re out on site. We’ve got some clients building brand new houses out here.
We like to get our feet on the ground and come and check out the progress and also check out what’s happening in surrounding areas as well.
Hello, Andrew. How are you, mate? Hope you’re having a great day.
I’m here on your block down here in Melbourne. So I thought I’d just show you around. You can see that they’ve got the slab well and truly down and they’ve got the frame all laid out, ready to go.
There’s heaps of other constructions that are happening here at the moment as well. It’s a little bit tricky to see the exact layout of what’s going on, but you can see basically how it’s all done. The chippies are out the front there in that van where the girls are, literally, ready to put the frame up today.
So it’s all looking amazing, mate. Hope you’re having a great day. See you soon.
You’ve got that already?
I sure do.
What’s that? Hey, Steph. How are you doing?
Hey, I’m good. How are you?
Yeah, great to see you. You can see they’ve got the crew here with me at the moment. Caitlin’s just over there.
Say hi to Caitlin. And we’re out the front of your house. See everyone.
Oh.
We’re out the front. He’s got that on camera, too. I literally went, tits dry.
Light up. Live TV. Live TV.
There you go. We’re here at your brand new house down in Melbourne. Have a look at it.
Awesome. It’s looking good. Yeah, it’s looking really good.
Yeah, it has gone up quickly, hasn’t it? So yeah, this is the early starts of the enclosed stage where the roof’s on and they’ll start doing some of the internal work. So you can see all the internal framing’s already been done.
Site’s all pretty clean. So bedroom out the front. Bathroom.
It’s a little bit funny to see exactly what the configuration is, but you sort of get it. You can see BR2 on the thing there. Powder room.
Bedroom three. You can sort of see the rest of the house as it starts to come down through there. We’re being videoed at the same time.
Main bathroom. And then here’s the kitchen, meals, family, outdoor. There’s the darker bricks that I was talking about before.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can see the house next door to it’s similar. Yeah, this is what it is. So yeah, there’s your house, mate.
Coming to life. Pretty cool, hey?
Lovely.
Yeah.
Very exciting, very exciting. Number two.
I know, it’s so good. And like you said, it’s all happening really, really quickly as well.
Yeah, yeah, videos indeed.
All right, legend. I’ve got to keep moving. I just wanted to do a quick little call for you, all right?
I’ll send you through this little video so Tim can also be involved in this. Take it easy. Have a great day.
See you, mate. Bye.
Bye. This is amazing. She’s going to love this, Kate.
Definitely.
Nice to see you. Hey team, just doing a bit of a site survey down here in Melbourne. I’m like, hey buddy, are you awake?
Can I send you a couple of photos? He’s like, mate, I’m on a flight from Melbourne to Doha. About to land in Doha shortly.
He goes, I can see the slabs down. I’m like, mate, there’s more than the slab down. The frame’s up.
And I’m literally sending him photos right now of his frame up. He’s like, geez, they’re ripping in. That’s bloody awesome progress.
Unreal. This is what we do, mate. Communicate with people all around the world when their houses are being built.
They’re living their lives. We’re building their houses. Happy days.
I’m so proud that all the houses that are being settled here and our builder is the first one out there getting ready to get going. So good.
Little bit of sun.
I could do with that.
We’re here on site in Melbourne. And we’re just checking out some of these properties that our clients are about to start construction on. And this area is actually in the most incredible estate.
And it’s really close to this display village, which is a great indication of an amazing location.
I’m going to need you to talk. You’re not talking on camera. You just did all the weird stuff.
So the whole house is this?
All of it, yeah.
And then… That is awesome. You’re used to it, mate.
Yeah.
Well, it’s the rain on Melbourne. Her hand just faced down and I was rubbing it like this. I never normally have it like that.
Hey, the whole reason we’ve been coming down to Melbourne is just to check out the different landscapes, like what’s going on down here. And one of the huge things that we’ve really discovered is that every builder does things slightly differently. Even the way they build houses up in Queensland is different than what it’s done down here.
There’s different rules, there’s different regulations, there’s different permits that need to be put through. I guess the bottom line is, what does it mean to you? Don’t do this by yourself.
We’re on a really investigative journey down here to make sure that we can gather all the information and pass it on to you so you have a super smooth build process. There’s no way in the world I’d want to do this by myself as an individual. So yeah, make sure you get some help.
We’ll be here for you. Sorry, sorry. Bye, coming out of the closet.
I feel like you do that a couple of times every week. Anymore? You gotta do it again.
Yeah.
Hey, if you guys were able to watch our live Q&A session a couple of weeks ago, we did something we’ve never done before, which is basically show people some brand new terrace home product that we’ve got access to. Well guess what? We’re here on site.
These things basically come to market in the July-August period so if you want to get your hands on them we’re basically down here having a real good look now and they’re all going to be coming your way real soon.
